Garden Awnings

Typically a garden awning is a sheet of canvas, or any other suitable material, that is attached to a framework of aluminium, iron or steel which is usually fixed to the exterior wall of a building and is used to protect a doorway, window, sidewalk or decking from sun or rain. In a nutshell it is a cheap but effective way to extend out from your home into a garden or outdoor sitting area.

Awnings are normally a very attractive addition to the home since they are sold in a variety of colours that blend well with their surroundings and indeed can make a patio or terrace seem sophisticated and almost Mediterranean on hot summer evenings, especially if you invest in one of the green and white striped sun awnings that are particularly attractive and look fresh and crisp. Retractable awnings are mounted straight onto the house and expand over the desired area when needed, but can be retracted into their special housing mechanism when not required, while motorised awnings come complete with fixing brackets and a manual winder in case of power cut.
